Penn State Campus Dining recognizes that individuals with Celiac Disease or gluten-related sensitivities must avoid gluten products when dining. For that reason, a number of resources are available to help guests safely follow a gluten-free diet while dining on campus. Menu items containing gluten are labeled on entree cards at the point of service, as well as on the online menu for each dining commons location. For the online menu, filtering options are available to easily note which items are gluten free.
In addition to the naturally gluten-free menu options, all five dining commons at University Park offer supplemental gluten-free items. These items are intended to complement the meals served and include:
- GF Bagels
- GF Rolls (can be subbed for traditional hamburger rolls)
- GF Sliced Bread
- GF Pasta with Tomato Sauce
- Individual GF Pizza
- GF Breakfast Cereals in Individual Cups (Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, Lucky Charms)
- GF Pretzels
- GF Muffins (Udi's®)
- GF Cookies (Udi's®)
- GF Mac N' Cheese (Amy's®)
We are asking that if a student would like any item(s) from this list, that they please call the dining hall in advance to make the request. For dining hall contact information, please click here.
PURE: a food station dedicated to preparing menu items without gluten, as well as other common allergens including dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts (excluding coconut), fish, shellfish or sesame. The station includes a separate kitchen and cooking equipment and is full service to prevent allergen/gluten cross-contact. PURE is located in The Commons at East Food District.
